An up date from El Presidente

I am not able to see some of the members on a regular basis so the following is an update of what has been happening behind the scenes with Salt Ayre.
A grant has been recieved from Sport England £150,000 + £25,000 from Lancaster City Council.
(I think this has come from the money they got for being a cycling development town). This will be used as follows:-
The track is to be completely re-surfaced with 1 metre width added to the width of most of the straights, the bases for the lights and the underground cable to be put in ready for the lamp standards to be put up next year.  The skills area (car park) to be re-surfaced and a link way between the skills area and the track is also to be re-surfaced.
I have had a word with Gary Bowker and he is going to see about getting rid of most of the trees that at the moment are so thick as to be a considerable danger because they are growing to close to the track.   Also ear-marked for next year is some sort of building, extra signage to try stop people from walking onto the track and some sort of fencing, although I'm not too sure about the last item.  The council have also promised to tell the athletics club that running on there when racing is going on is a absolute no no.  I will try to keep you updated as and when things start to happen.

El Presidente
