A rest day was much needed the next day, with Paul and Adrian staying in Palma Nova doing the sensible option of rest, whilst Gary, Clem and Robert went into Palma to traverse every shopping street available (great idea for a rest day!). After several cakes the Clochard expressed his respect to all skateboarders who struggle with the challenge to learn complex tricks and skills on their boards; you could see the envy in the Closhard’s eyes as he wished that he had devoted great depths of time into a radical sport like boarding. Back on the bikes the following day and both Paul and Adrian looked equally as strong as a result of the rest day, however the shopping experience and the intensity of the previous rides made Clem retire from the stage early to gain some much needed rest and recuperation for the final stage. Adrain again wrapped up everything for the ride with the Bionic McLaughlin still looking very fresh on the bike. The final day saw the riders enjoy a flat stage with only a minor climb up the Coll de Hono. Clem stole a much needed stage win with his only other victory being the king of the ice cream eating |

The week away training was a great week; riding in the warmth alone was fantastic, but the added advantage of the smooth roads and the patient drivers allowed for some excellent riding. However it is now back to the harsh reality of March in Britain – rain, rain, rain and strong head winds, what more could we ask for? Clem Coady 10/03/02. |
